FIRST Organization

First was developed in 1989 by Professor Woodie Flowers and Dean Kamen , the inventor of the Segway PT. FIRST was designed to promote the crucial values of teamwork, collaboration, "Gracious Professionalism", and "Coopertition". FIRST's goal is to help inspire our students to go into engineering and the sciences. This year FIRST offered more than nine million dollars in scholarships from schools across the country to highschool Juniors and Seniors of FRC teams.

First is an invisionary program designed and set up to lead and assist students in the science and technology fields of today. Their mission is to "inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including: self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
